Vote comes up short to overturn sewer ordinance veto

They've been fighting about it for months.   How much should people living outside the city of Elkhart be charged for sewer service?

Last week, Mayor Dick Moore vetoed an ordinance passed by the council.  It charges customers outside the city limits a 15 percent fee on top of what those inside city limits pay.
Monday night, some council members wanted to overturn the veto.   They needed six votes, but they came up short by one.

Ron Troyer, the Council President says:   "I think we need to get on with this. I realize we're at different spectrums. This ordinance has taken on so many different spins.  Every time we met or planned to meet, something else came up."

Mayor Moore has already started working on another proposed ordinance compromise.
