Senator Broden talks Obamacare at South Bend library

Posted:

Indiana state senator John Broden discussed Obamacare with Michiana residents on Tuesday.

Senator Broden held a public meeting at LaSalle Branch Library in South Bend this afternoon, to talk about how the Affordable Care Act will affect Hoosier families.

Broden explained that this would mean the extension of health care coverage to Hoosiers who have jobs and who work but whose employers don't provide coverage... or they don't make enough to afford it on their own.

Senator Broden says it would make a big difference for many.

"People throughout Indiana are really starting to realize that we are missing a huge economic opportunity," said Broden.  "This is 30-thousand jobs in the healthcare industry and it's healthcare for 400-thousand people. So to turn this down, frankly for political reasons, I think is a huge mistake on the part of the state of Indiana. "

The meeting was sponsored by the Community Forum for Economic Development.
