Ivy Tech offering manufacturing training at Plymouth High School

Plymouth High School Students will soon have a chance to get some advanced training for future jobs.  The school is teaming up with Ivy Tech Community College to offer dual credit in precision tool manufacturing.

"Ivy Tech's role in training a skilled workforce is vitally important to the economic stability of our region," said Ivy Tech Chancellor Thomas Coley. "Manufacturers in the Marshall County area communicated to both Ivy Tech and the Plymouth Community School Corporation the desire to partner with us to provide training opportunities to high school students that will lead to jobs immediately after graduation.  Dual credit students are also more likely to continue their post-high school college experience."

ITAMCO, a local manufacturing company, has donated $100,000 worth of equipment and technical assistance to help get the program going.

Since the program is offers dual credit classes, the participating students will have college credit hours under their belt before the graduate from high school
