With football season around the corner, thousands of visitors will be traveling to South Bend for the 2013 home Notre Dame football games.

Local law enforcement is working together to make the trip to the game as easy as possible for fans. Due to recent construction projects, many normal routes have changed, which could cause confusion on game day.

"The new construction will probably enhance the ability to get fans and residents in and out of the area, but it is again, brand new so it needs to be relearned," says Captain Phil Trent, South Bend Police Department public information officer.

That's why Trent says officers will be enforcing traffic patterns into the stadium hours before kick off. He says fans should not rely on maps or GPS to navigate because many of the best routes are completely new. He encourages visitors to stay up-to-date on traffic flow through Twitter @NDtraffic. He also says to familiarize yourself with the new maps available here.
