Fifty Shades of Grey cast announced

Posted:

Social media has exploded of the casting news the big-screen adaptation of E L James' "Fifty Shades of Grey."

Dakota Johnson, star of the short-lived FOX series "Ben & Kate," will be playing Anastasia Steele.  In the book, the college student becomes captivated with billionaire Christian Grey.  Grey will be played by "Sons of Anarchy" and "Pacific Rim" star Charlie Hunnam.

Johnson is the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith.  She also appeared in the "The Social Network" and the 2012 "21 Jump Street" remake.

Many fans of the series are sending tweets with anger outweighing the response to last week's announcement that Ben Affleck would be playing Bruce Wayne in the upcoming Batman/Superman movie.

E L James posted to her Twitter account in support of the choices saying. "The gorgeous and talented Charlie Hunnam will be Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey." and "I am delighted to let you know that the lovely Dakota Johnson has agreed to be our Anastasia in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey."
