UPDATE: Mother accused of leaving baby in dumpster allowed to travel

The woman accused of leaving her baby in a dumpster will be allowed to travel to Michigan and Illinois for work.

A judge ruled Wednesday morning that Purvi Patel will have to stay on GPS monitoring while she travels.  Patel will also have to contact the DuComb Center and District 8 State Parole Facility before she leaves, and remain in contact with them during the trip.

Patel is  charged with Neglect of a Dependent. Police say she went to a hospital in July and doctors told them she had just given birth. Eventually officers found the baby in a dumpster behind Moe's Southwest Grill on University Drive in Granger.

Patel's trial is tentatively scheduled for November 12. As new developments arise in this story we'll bring you the very latest both on air and online right here on FOX28.com.
