Niles woman arrested after trying to abduct child

A Niles woman is behind bars tonight after police say she tried to abduct a young girl.

50-year-old Bonnie Farrow was arraigned Thursday afternoon on charges of home invasion, kidnapping/child enticement, and impersonating an FIA worker.

Police say that on Wednesday afternoon, just before 5:00, Farrow approached a 7-year-old girl on North 7th Street in Niles. Police say Farrow told the little girl that the little girl was in danger and began to lead the child out of the area.

A witness to the incident yelled at Farrow to stop, then the child ran into the house. Police say Farrow followed the girl into the house. The child's mother, who police say was in the bathroom at the time of the incident, heard a knock on the bathroom door. The mother then saw Farrow standing inside her home. Police say Farrow identified herself as a Children's Protective Services worker. The child's mother did not believe Farrow, and told her to get out of the house. Farrow left the house and was arrested by Niles Police a short time later.

Farrow is being held in the Berrien County Jail in lieu of $50,000.
