Northridge's 2013 football team looking to make history

Michiana is pretty used to teams like Penn and Concord having great years on the football field, but the Northridge Raiders? Well the last couple years have not been so great.

Between the 2011 and 2012 season the Raiders won just two games and one of those was a forfeit.

This year's team however, is off to a 3-0 start and it's the first time they've been that good since 1992. Oddly enough though every player on the team wasn't even born before 1995, so none of them remember that team.

"That's the last time we were 3-0 and that's all I know," said senior RB/DB Craig Kasten, when asked what he knew about 1992.

For fun we asked some of the seniors some trivia about 1992. Some of them thought "a Bush" was elected in the '92 election -- it was Bill Clinton. A few thought that the Jamaican bobsled team wowed the United States in the Olympics -- it was the "Dream Team" United States Basketball squad.

There was one thing that the seniors did know about 1992 and that is what Sir-Mix-A-Lot says after "I like big butts."

"And I cannot lie, you other brothers can't deny, when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waste and a round thing in your face you get sprung," said senior defensive back Jailyn Rolle, when asked to finish the lyric.

It's probably fine these kids don't know about the early 90s. After all this is their time to shine and create memories for their future. This Raiders team is excited that they're already carving out their own legacy.

"I think if we create the legacy now, that is what is going to stand between the future teams," said senior lineman Lucas Wickey.

The Raiders will look to improve to 4-0 against Plymouth on the road this coming Friday. The 1991 Raiders were the last team in school history to start off 4-0.
