Silver Hawks enter last leg of championship run Wednesday

Posted:

It's been a historic season in every sense of the word for the South Bend Silver Hawks. The team has broken attendance records, earned a new stadium sponsorship and had a great season. Now it's time for fans to see if the team can go the distance.

Wednesday night will mark the first game of the Hawks' Midwest League Championship series against the Quad Cities River Bandits. It will be a five-game series, with games one and two being played in South Bend.

Wednesday's and Thursday's games will begin at 7:05 pm at Four Winds Field at Stanley Coveleski Regional Stadium. Wednesday night is kids eat free night, which means all children 12 and under will get a voucher for a free hot dog, pop corn and pop. Thursday is Thirsty Thursday, so beer and pop will be $1-dollar each. There will also be fireworks after the Thursday game.

If the Hawks win both games they will only need one win in the Quad Cities to clinch their first Midwest League title since 2005. The Hawks are making their first appearance in the title series since 2008.
