'Be The Light' fundraiser held for the Kroc Center

Posted:

A party for the Kroc Center was the place to be on Thursday night.

After months of planning, the center held its 'Be The Light' fundraiser at the Studebaker Museum.

The purpose of the event--to bring the community together and raise money to help the center.

The daughter of founder Joan Kroc was on hand as was the man behind the movie Remember The Titans- Coach Herman Boone.

A great grandchild of Joan Kroc talked about the importance of the center.

Scotty Latimer says, "I really enjoy seeing how my great-grandma's gift and vision has turned into reality. And seeing all the people who are happy and their lives have really been impacted."

A Kroc center employee, Major Collette Webster, added,  "There is a misperception that the center is paid for. The building itself is paid for and we have an endowment fund. That fund only pays for 20 percent of budget so all the rest of the money we need to raise in the community to support the Kroc Center."

All the money collected tonight will go towards the a scholarship fund so people can get financial help to join the center.

FOX28's Traci Capellman and Steve DuVal served as hosts for the evening.
