Blackhawks players and fans enjoy scrimmage at Compton Ice Arena

Posted:

While the Irish are away from Campus this weekend, another popular team was wowing hockey fans at Notre Dame Saturday.

The 2013 Stanley Cup Champs were in town and Blackhawks fans from all over the Midwest packed the Compton Ice Arena to see the team in training camp.

The Hawks have been here since Wednesday, but Saturday was the first public practice for the team.

Chicago currently has a one year deal with Notre Dame, but fans are hoping there will be an extension in the works to make this an every year thing.

"Definitely come back. we're close to Chicago so you can get people who live there and people who live here," says fan Kristin Lewis.

Fan Stephanie Miller says, "The turnout I mean, not a lot of people can get $10 tickets and here, it's $10 admission. Sit wherever you want, first come, first serve."

The Blackhawks will host another public scrimmage on Sunday that's already sold out.
