Man killed in chain reaction crash in Berrien County


A Galien, Michigan man was killed in a chain-reaction crash involving a semi-truck in Berrien County.

It happened in a construction zone on US 12 near Hoder Road in New Buffalo Township Saturday afternoon.

Police say a semi-truck driver didn't stop for traffic stopped at a red light and crashed into a car driven by 75-year-old Harold Redding, causing a chain reaction crash.

Redding was killed in the crash.

Five people were taken to the hospital. All have been treated and released.

The driver of the semi-truck was 66-year-old David Frost of Mendon, Michigan. 

He was not injured. 

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this accident. 

Police continue to investigate the crash.
