Blackhawks wrap-up Notre Dame portion of training camp, hope to return

The Chicago Blackhawks have left the building. The building of course being the Compton Ice Arena.

After spending the first four days of their training camp at Notre Dame, the Stanley Cup Champions are headed back to Chicago. They will finish camp there.

While their stay in South Bend was brief, the experience of having camp away from their normal facility made a strong impression on the players. Enough so that they hope to come back next year.

"I mean [Notre Dame] has unbelievable facilities," said Patrick Kane, Blackhawks Right Wing. "The accommodations were great the whole week and they really took care of us. I don't see why we wouldn't come back."

Notre Dame only had a one-year deal with the team to host training camp, but it seems like both sides would like this to become an annual event. Many players talked about how great this experience was throughout the entire week.

"I think its just kind of more of a team setting," said Kane. "All the guys are around each other and you just have a lot more guys here. Its nice to get to know each other and it's easier in this kind of setting."

Day one of camp was private and only media members were allowed in to watch practice. Notre Dame students were invited to watch the second day of action. Saturday and Sunday's scrimmages were open to the public and were witnessed by sell-out crowds.
