Red Cross volunteers prepare to deploy to Colorado

Posted:

Volunteers from the Northern Indiana Region of the Red Cross are preparing to deploy to Colorado to help out with the flooding.  Long-time volunteer Mary Allen and Dona Hall will be flying into Denver to help with staffing for the Red Cross.

Dona says even though she will see many bad things while she is there, she will still leave with the good feeling of helping someone in need.  "When you go into a situation where there is all flooding," Hall said, "and they say 'I've lost everything.  I don't know where to go.  I don't know where I'm going to go next.  I don't know what I'm going to do,' and you say to them, we are going to do what we can to get you back on your feet the best way we can with all the different agencies working together."

The deployment will be for two to three weeks.  To make a donation,  visit http://www.redcross.org, text RED CROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation or contact the local Chapter at 574-234-0191.
