Police stress safety on roads around farm equipment

With the harvest starting up, you may see more farm vehicles on the roads.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff Department says it's up to drivers to be aware of slow moving vehicles like tractors and combines. They often can take up the whole road, but Indiana law says you must yield to them.

"It's a small period of time that they do this in the spring and the fall, but if they could just abide by that and give them a little bit of room, a little bit of time and space to get around, it's not that much of an adjustment if you're just patient and wait a little bit," says Kosciusko County PIO Sergeant Chad Hill.

He says adjust your speeds when navigating around vehicles and be cautious any time you go over hills in rural areas.
