Neighbors take safety concerns to council members

For those who live on the west side of South Bend-- Tuesday night was all about addressing safety concerns.

People who live in the area of LaSalle Park took their frustrations to the Charles Black Neighborhood Center to talk with council members.

Neighbors say the area, particularly the Western Avenue corridor, is not being equally served by the city. They're also concerned about development in the area and bringing it up to par with other parts of South Bend.

Wendell Johnson, the Neighborhood Association's vice president says, "We have to weed and get rid of those undesirable things that are in our area. Then hopefully, we'll look to the city to help us then to develop a good business corridor that actually provide a quality and safe environment for our residents."

Members of the neighborhood say they are hopeful their concerns will be dealt with and city ordinances will be enforced.
