Indiana students showed slight improvement in language arts and math scores in statewide ISTEP scores that have been released after months of reviews into online glitches during last spring's tests.
The Indiana Department of Education says 79.5% of students passed the language arts section, with 82.7 passing the math exam. The math pass rate is up 1.5%age points from 2012, but the language arts pass rate is up just one-tenth of a point.
State schools superintendent Glenda Ritz says students deserve congratulations for the improved performance despite the testing troubles.
A recent report found about 80,000 students in third through eighth grade had at least one part of the computerized test interrupted when server troubles from contractor CTB/McGraw-Hill kicked them offline. That's about 16% of those tested.
