Local Red Cross volunteer helping flooding victims in Colorado

Posted:

On Monday, local Red Cross Volunteers headed to Colorado to help with flooding relief efforts. Volunteers from St. Joseph County, Elkhart County, and Kosciusko County deployed this week to lend a hand

Thursday, we spoke with Dona Hall, a volunteer from South Bend who is currently in Denver.

Hall is working with staff services at the Red Cross Headquarters there-- getting other volunteers registered to help out.

760 Red Cross volunteers from across the country are helping with the flooding relief in Colorado and surrounding areas. Those volunteers are helping to serve the thousands of people who have been affected.

"You become very grateful that you have what you have when you see people who have nothing." Hall says. "These people have lost everything. They're home is completely destroyed."

Hall will be deployed in Colorado for 2 to 3 weeks.

"It's our job as individuals- if we have the time, we need to give it to others and we need to help as much as we can," Hall says.
