Public meeting held to discuss DTSB two-way streets

A public input meeting was held Thursday night in South Bend about changing some traffic patterns.

We're talking about changing some one way streets to two way streets.

The meeting was at the Century Center Recital Hall.

Those involved with the plan explained their research on street flow and what impact this change could have on businesses.

Ian Lockwood, AECOM Liveable Transportation Engineer, says, "When we were driving around in the downtown we noticed especially going south on Main Street all we were focusing on were the signals..we weren't even looking at the businesses. So we look to change that environment a little bit."

The council has to approve the plans for work to start.

FOX28 spoke with Lockwood on Wednesday about the details of the plan.
