School celebrates International Day of Peace

Students at Pinewood Elementary sang Toy Story's "You've Got a Friend in Me" to kick off their annual Peace Day.  Decked out in peace signs and tie-dye, the students listened to a story about a big, bad bully and waved posters with anti-bullying messages.  Sixth grader Ellie Malloy said there were a lot of good lessons.  "I learned that you should help others when they're being bullied and not watch it happen. You also shouldn't be a bully either, because it's mean and you wouldn't want it to happen to yourself. So don't do it to others."

After the assembly, students took a "Peace Walk" around the building.  They chanted and sang to get pumped up about their no bully zone. The official International Day of Peace is Saturday, September 21st.
