Mishawaka firefighter on paid leave after weekend arrest

The Mishawaka City Staff Attorney says that Mishawaka Firefighter Eric Hazen was put on paid leave after being arrested over the weekend.

The St. Joseph County Prosecutors office tells us that Hazen was charged Monday with two felonies- neglect of a dependent and intimidation.  In addition, he was charged with misdemeanor resisting law enforcement.

According to the charging documents released by the prosecutors office, police were performing a welfare check when Hazen reportedly threatened them and struggled with the officers.

FOX28 is working to find more information about the incident.
