Police officers, firefighters, and rescue workers honored with Blue Mass

All police officers, firefighters, rescue workers and their families were honored on Thursday with a mass at Notre Dame.

The 13th annual Blue Mass was held at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart.

The Blue Mass was first celebrated a month after the September 11th terrorist attacks to honor those who work in public safety.

Notre Dame's Chief of Police says Officer Rod Bradway was on the minds of many today at the mass.

Phillip Johnson, the Chief of Police at Notre Dame, says, "While we're here today praying for all of those who serve in public safety, we especially today remember a fallen officer and his family and the sacrifice they all made."

Firefighters and police officers from across the country were in attendance at the mass.
