Homeless veterans get help from the community

Some homeless veterans in Michiana received some help from the community today.

A military stand down was held in their honor today.

People and businesses donated several items and their time to help vets learn of resources available to them. A veteran spoke about the outpouring of support.

"This is the best donation effort I've ever seen," said the Robert Miller Veterans Center's Director Kent Laudeman. "We've got food, boxed lunches from Four Winds, apples, cookies. Then you get into all kinds of hygiene items then a special table for female veterans."

If you want to help there are several locations in Michiana.

Just call the Robert Miller Veterans Center for more information.
