Mishawaka diners served by cops

Diners at Red Robin experienced something unusual Saturday.  Police officers were in the restaurant to wait on them.

It was all for the Tip a Cop event that benefits the Special Olympics Indiana.  Red Robin's across the state were participating.  Officers at the Mishawaka restaurant told us customers are surprised to see a Cop serving them.  "When you walk up with a drink for the first time they kinda look at you like ok what' going on here, why are you serving me a drink.  So it really is a good way to break the ice," said Sgt. Trent Smith with Indiana State Police.

Once that ice is broken officers then tell patrons about Special Olympics and ask them to donate to the cause.  We're told everyone was very generous Saturday in Mishawaka.  ISP was expecting to collect more than $1,500.
