Several Michiana folks ready for snow

It's been a warm October but despite that people are gearing up for snow.  No, there's no snow in the forecast but skiers and snowboarders sure wish there was.

Sabrina Bard was at Swiss Valley Ski and Snowboard area Sunday she said, "I'm gettin all my ski stuff and figuring out what I need new and what stuff I already have that I don't need new of."

Dozens of people visited Swiss Valley's Ski and Board Shop Sunday to take advantage of a one day only clearance sale.  Evan Lubbeheusen said he was, "shopping for ski equipment for this year."

And it's not just the sale they're excited about.  Aquari Walker said, "I'm feeling excited cause I like the snow it's fun."

But the weather lately has felt more like summer than winter.  Jamie Stafne with Swiss Valley said they're taking advantage of the great weather.  "It makes it easier for us to work and prepare for ski season ."

But said they want the temperatures to drop before their next season pass sale in November.  "We're hoping it gets a little colder and people start thinking more about snow and skiing and what they're gonna do all winter with their families," said Stafne, "people get excited and the phone starts ringing but until it gets a little bit colder that won't happen."

Those who visited the ski area Sunday agree, they're ready for the temps to fall.  "16 degrees or so and snow a few feet of it," said Lubbeheusen.

But just being at the hill makes them think snow could be in the air any day now.  "It actually makes it feel like winter's gonna come faster," said Bard.

Swiss Valley's ski and snowboard shop officially opens for the season November 6th.  They hope to open the slopes the second week of December.
