The name of an 18-year-old, killed in an accident Sunday evening in Paw Paw Township has been released.

Police say Emily Rose Lauer died at the scene of the crash.

Police say Lauer was driving down 64th Avenue, a dirt road, around 5:50 pm when she went over a small bridge at a high rate of speed. Police believe she was "trying to go airborne" over a bridge. Instead she lost control and crashed into a tree.

A 16-year-old male passenger sustained minor cuts and bruises while an 18-year-old female passenger received serious injuries to her face and head. Their names have not been released.

Police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Paw Paw Schools in Van Buren County were expected to bring in grief counselors Monday morning for students who know those involved.
