The city of Elkhart will begin their leaf pick-up program next week.

Mayor Dick Moore's office released details of the plan on Monday.

The city will be broken up into four zones, labeled A, B, C and D.

Pick-up will begin with Zone A on October 21. Zone A is the area south of the mainline Norfolk Southern tracks. Zone A will have a second round of pick-up starting November 18.

Pick-up for Zone B begins October 28. Zone B is neighborhoods north of the St. Joseph River and west of Johnson Street. Zone B will have a second round of pick-up starting November 25.

Pick-up for Zone C begins November 4. Zone C is neighborhoods north of the St. Joseph River east of Johnson Street. Zone C will have a second round of pick-up starting December 2.

Pick-up for Zone D begins November 11. Zone D are neighborhoods south of the St. Joseph River north of the mainline Norfolk Southern tracks. Zone D will have a second round of pick-up starting December 9.

Residents should rake the leaves to the curb, but not into the street. The city asks that you do not put limbs, trash, stone or bricks into the leaf piles. Residents can also bag their leaves. Garden waste may be placed on top of leaf piles, but should not be mixed in. Branches or limbs should be placed in a separate pile.
