Elkhart Humane Society food supply critically low

The Elkhart County Humane Society is in dire need of dog and cat food.  They have taken in over 500 animals a month for the past six months and it has drained their food supply.  The shelter uses 110 pounds of dog food a day and 53 pounds of cat food a day.

The Executive Director for the Humane Society, Anne Reel, says their food supply is critically low.  "We have been purchasing food as we have gotten some donations, plus taking from our own budget to try and keep caught up," Reel said, "but the numbers are just too huge this time of year."

The Elkhart County Humane Society is asking for Purina brand dog and cat foods so they can keep the animals on a steady diet.  Donations can be dropped off at the Shelter.  The address is 54687 County Road 19  Bristol, IN 46507.  For more information visit Elkhart County Humane Society.
