Store worker fired for helping woman being attacked

A Wal-Mart worker in Michigan says he was fired after helping a woman who was being attacked in the parking lot.  The attack happened outside this store in Hartland Township, early Sunday morning.

Kristopher Oswald says he was on a break when he saw a man grabbing a woman.  When he asked if she needed help, then the man started attacking him.  Oswald says when he was able to get on top of the man, two other men started attacking him.

Police arrived and then stopped the fight.   Oswald says the store then fired him for policy violations.

"I never expected all of this, and the least I expected was to not have a job," said Oswald.  "I don't even know what to put on an application about all of this.  How do I say this ended?  I'm always going to act the right way and do the right thing even after all of this."

A Wal-Mart spokesperson says while they understood Oswald's intentions, they have a policy against workplace violence to prevent workers from assaulting co-workers and tackling shoplifters.
