Service project for Notre Dame football players

The Fighting Irish football team has received so much support from the community.

So they wanted to give some back to those less fortunate.

The team spent some time at the Center for the Homeless tonight.

Troy Niklas and Ernest Jones organized this service project.

They gave out gift bags, served a meal and spent some time talking with residents.

Coach Brian Kelly and his wife Paqui spoke about the effect this has on the kids.

"Our guys are just so blessed with many things: scholarship, athletic ability, intellect, most of them come from great upbringings its an opportunity for them to think about others," said Coach Brian Kelly.

"It's like breaking bread with everybody," said Kelly Cares' Paqui Kelly. "It's a great way to come together."

Kelly also said this event is like a 2 way street. The players are inspiring while at the same time they're getting inspiration.
