Elkhart students raise money for Haiti

Students at a local elementary school are tying to help the people of Haiti.  Riverview Elementary School in Elkhart is trying to raise money to build a well in the impoverished nation.  Students are having a spirit week, where they participate in certain things, like pajama day, for a donation.  The school's head custodian is actually traveling to Haiti next week to get a first hand look.

Head Custodian, Monique Harris is very excited to see her students support her cause.  "I am very emotional," Harris said, "My heart is so happy that they would help."

Students, like sixth grader Yvette, say it is fun to be able to help out such a good cause.  "People in Haiti don't have water or access to water," Yvette said, "so we are trying to get money so we can get a well driller to go to Hattie to build wells."

If you would like to donate to the schools Haiti fund, monitory donations may be dropped off to the school.
