Neighborhood meetings get back on track

Posted:

We told you last week that folks in Elkhart's Tipton-Middlebury neighborhood came out for what they thought was a meeting to help fight crime on their streets but the organizer wasn't there.  FOX28 found out that meeting was rescheduled for Sunday.  And now the group has scheduled previous meetings too.

A small group of people showed up and discussed their neighborhood and how to get more good things going on in the community.  After the meeting, the group walked to a local councilman's house to invite him to the next meeting because they just want to get more people involved with their efforts to change the neighborhood.  "It creates a louder unified voice and that voice is more easily heard by the other residents in the neighborhood and also by the city government and local government," said Jason Moreno with LaCasa Inc.

The next meeting will be Saturday November 16th at 4 p.m. at Mary Beck Elementary School.  The group is encouraging everyone in the area to attend.
