4th suspect involved in 2011 robbery homicide sentenced

St. Joseph County sentenced a man involved in 2011 robbery homicide to 6 years in prison with 2 years probation on Thursday.  The prosecutors office says 22-year-old Sylvester Garner was sentenced after being convicted for Assisting a Criminal.

Garner had been charged with Aiding in Murder in December of 2011 in connection to the death of Dietrich Perkins, but the charge was lowered as part of a plea agreement.

Garner is the last of four men charged in connection to Perkins' death.  Bryan Hunt pled guilty to Attempted Robbery and was sentenced to 20 years.  Freemond Jordan was sentenced to 80 years after being found guilty of Murder and Attempted Robbery.  Forest Lamar Jr. was found guilty of Attempted Murder, and was sentenced to 40 years in prison.
