Feeding The Nations sending relief to Typhoon Haiyan survivors

Posted:

In South Bend, the folks at Feeding the Nations need your help in sending relief to the Philippines for survivors of Typhoon Haiyan. The organization is working with a group in the most devastated area of Tacloban.

Phase 1 of their relief is immediately sending funds to that group to buy mats, blankets and bottled water for thousands of people.

Then, Feeding the Nations will send over 500,000 meals to the country. The food will be shipped before Thanksgiving and should be delivered within 10 days.

Money donated will be used to buy things in the Philippines for those affected and also to get donated food there.

Steve Sumerall is the president of Feeding the Nations and the devastation hits home for him. Sumerall lived in the country as a child and has been back to visit several times.

"They're a very loving people, a very kind people, a very hospitable people," Sumerall says. "They get devastated and hurt just like anybody else and so you cannot imagine what they're going through right now."

You can find out how to donate money or food to Feeding the Nations here. We also have a list of other organizations helping those in the Philippines here.
