St. Joe students pray for those affected by Typhoon Haiyan

Several local groups are doing what they can to help the victims and survivors of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines

Students and staff at St. Joseph High School gathered on Thursday to pray for the victims.

They prayed the rosary in the school's chapel.

Junior Kristen Pascual came up with the idea because she has family in the Philippines.

Fortunately they were not affected, but she said it's important to pray for those who were.

Pascual said, "We want to lift up our prayers for them so that they may have help as soon as possible."

The school will also have a dress down day fundraiser Friday. The money raised will go to Catholic Relief Services.
