Northridge softball stars sign with colleges

Wednesday was the start of national signing day, but the girls from Northridge waited a day to sign their letters of intent.

Haley Nixon, Brooke Maes, and Brianne O'Dell all helped the Raiders softball team win a Regional title last year and they got rewarded with college scholarships.

Nixon signed on with Indiana Wesleyan. She said she knew immediately it was where she wanted to go.

"The moment I stepped on campus it was beautiful and I love the coaches," said Nixon. "Once you get there you understand how amazing it is."

Maes is staying close to home and going to Goshen. She also felt right at home when she visited the school's campus.

"All the people there are really friendly and nice," said Maes. "It just filled my heart with joy when I went there."

O'Dell is the only girl leaving the state. She is heading over to Ohio to play for Cedarville.

"I really like the Christian atmosphere," said O'Dell. "I was really struck by their friendliness."

All three girls still have a season of high school softball left to play and they are all looking forward to it.
