Local WWII Vet explains what Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day means to him

Saturday marked 72 years since the attack on Pearl Harbor.  To commemorate Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day there were memorial ceremonies across the country.

Here in Michiana we spoke to a 92 year old WWII veteran from Niles.  He reflected on his time in the service and told us what this day means for him now.  "We were able to see some of the ovens that people were just tall enough to walk into. A lot of young folk that I talk to don't even know what Pearl Harbor was. And without history, without knowing where you've been you can't know where you're going," said Henry Sterling Blair.  He was a Staff Sergeant who served in the army and air force.
