Satanists request monument at Oklahoma capitol building

A Satanic monument next to the Ten Commandments.  That could happen at the Oklahoma State Capitol.

A Satanic temple notified the Capitol Preservation Commission that it wants a monument right next to the Ten Commandments.   A temple member told the Associated Press that the Oklahoma government brought this on themselves by erecting a religious statement.

The American Civil Liberties Union has filed a lawsuit against the Capitol Preservation Commission saying the Ten Commandments monument is a direct violation of Article 2 Section 5 of the state constitution.

"If that monument is allowed to say then we don't see how the state can not allow other religions whether is Satanism, Catholicism, Hindu," says Brady Henderson with the Oklahoma ACLU.  "We don't think the state can pick and choose."

If approved by Oklahoma officials, it would cost around $20,000 dollars to erect the monument.
