South Bend students getting a career boost

Some students in South Bend are getting a boost when it comes to finding a job.

This morning the South Bend Career Academy announced two new programs for their students.  JAG or Jobs for America's Graduates helps youth develop job skills that will make them successful.

"We want the kids to understand the relevancy of what they're learning in the classroom and how that connects to the real business world," says Sarah Fine of the South Bend Career Academy.

The Hire Technology Program teaches students hand-on and prepares them for fields such as manufacturing.

"It's really good because it prepares you for like when you're older and just so you don't get out of high school, It kind of prepares you for it now," says Larry Balsley a student.

The goal of the hire technology program is to fill 11,000 manufacturing jobs each year.
