1st Source Bank has been celebrating turning 150 years old in different ways throughout the year.  Thursday, they announced the winners of their $150,000 Cheers' promotion.  Over a six week period, 1st Source received over 13,500 nominations from over 1,500 charitable organizations.  There were 150 $1,000 prizes awarded and two $15,000 awards.  The two $15,000 winners were Five Star Life of Elkhart, a middle school student outreach program and Porter County Career and Tech Center of Valparaiso, an automotive high school technical training program.

President, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of 1st Source Bank Chris Murphy said it was important for this money to help charities in our community.  "We are nothing more than a reflecting of the community that we serve," Murphy said, "we want them to be strong communities.  This is our home, we have been here for 150 years and we wanted to help in a different way and get people engaged into helping."

Chief Operating Officer for Five Star Life, Seth Maust said this money will help change more lives of middle school students in the community.  "$15,000 means a whole lot," Maust said, "it costs about $219 to sponsor a student a year at Five Star; so we are very excited to impact more and more students."
