House fire shuts down Main Street in Mishawaka

Holiday traffic hit a road blockon Saturday in Mishawaka

Main Street was closed at Leyte Avenue for a house fire.

Police tell us a transformer blew and started a small house fire.

Power was turned off to the immediate area for a little while.

The man who lives at the home says his neighbors told him about the fire and put it out.

"Our neighbors started pounding on our door saying the house was on fire so we grabbed the dog, threw some shoes on, and came out and what they'd done is they grabbed a bunch of snow and threw it on the fire for us actually and put it out," says Lincoln Tice, whose house caught on fire.

The fire caused some damage to the side of the house but no one was hurt.
