South Bend rejects 4 ideas for former hall of fame

Posted: Updated:

The city of South Bend has rejected proposals from four developers who submitted ideas on how to reuse the former College Football Hall of Fame building.

South Bend's executive director of community investment, Scott Ford, tells the South Bend Tribune that none of the four proposals "were fully complete."

But the city has requested more information about one of the plans. Ford says the city is awaiting additional information from that party before deciding whether to move forward with that offer.

The 52,000-square-foot building has been unused since December 2012, when the Hall of Fame closed after 17 years in South Bend and moved to Atlanta.

Ford says the building that's listed for $2.8 million is probably best suited to multiple uses because of its design.
