One person is dead after their car slammed into a semi-truck on I-94 in Berrien County Tuesday morning.
Michigan State Police say the 41-year-old Benton Harbor man was heading east when he lost control of his vehicle, crossed the center line, and hit the rear of a westbound semi. The man was thrown from the vehicle. Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene when they arrived.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor, according to police. It is not known at this time if the man was wearing a seatbelt. The other driver suffered minor injuries in the accident. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Westbound traffic was blocked due to the accident at mile marker 31, and eastbound traffic was blocked due to an accident at mile marker 33. Crews responding to both accidents were able to begin re-opening lanes at 7:30 a.m, and Berrien County dispatch reported that all lanes were open as of 7:45 a.m.
