Indiana Department of Transportation officials in northern Indiana are warning drivers that they could face challenging driving conditions heading to and from New Year's Eve celebrations.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for northern Indiana. The weather service says a frontal boundary will develop over the southern Great Lakes Tuesday night, leading to light to moderate snowfall that will bring 2 to 5 inches of snow. More snow is possible Wednesday night into Thursday.
Transportation officials say drivers pre-treated highways on Tuesday morning and will begin patrolling roadways before snow starts to fall. Once the snowfall starts, crews will begin plowing and treating interstates, U.S. highways, and state routes to try to keep roads as safe as possible.
