Plows fighting heavy snow across Michiana

Two days of snowfall has left roads difficult to navigate.  The Indiana Department of Transportation says they are trying to keep up on conditions as best as they can.

"170+ INDOT plow drivers have been on the roads across the Northwest Indiana District since the snow began to fall. Routes cycles result in plow trucks treating lanes every 2-3 hours," says Matt Deitchley with INDOT Northwest District.

INDOT advises you to avoid driving if you don't need to get out.  Be aware of snow plows, and give them enough room to work.

Plows are staying out until conditions improve on alternating 12-hour shifts.  It can take up to three hours for a truck to finish a complete route and begin a new cycle.
