Trash pick-up rescheduled times around the area

Posted:

BREMEN

Trash pick-up for the entire town will be Wed. 1-8-2014.

GOSHEN

Goshen City's residential trash contractor, Allied Waste, has notified City officials of additional delay in trash pickup. The continued extreme low temperature and wind chill factor affects truck hydraulics and driver safety. Monday's route was to be picked up today, but will be delayed until Wednesday. Allied will run extra trucks where possible to also chip away at the normal Tuesday route on Wednesday. Residents who are normally serviced Tuesday through Friday should put their trash out one day later than normal. As Allied Waste works to catch up, if it is not picked up on that day, it will be picked up the following day. Allied intends to be caught up by Saturday.

MISHAWAKA

Due to the cold and freezing temperatures, the City of Mishawaka has had to reschedule trash and recycling pick up.  Residents who normally have a Monday trash and recycling pick-up will be post-phoned until Monday of next week.  This means that you will be allowed to put out double the trash that you normally do and it will be picked up next Monday.  All other pick-up days will be one day behind this week as follows:

Tuesday, will be one day late and picked up Wednesday

Wednesday, will be one day late and picked up Thursday

Thursday, will be one day late and picked up Friday

Friday, will be one day late and picked up Saturday

Next week's trash and recycling should resume as normal.   Your cooperation and patience during these unusual weather conditions is greatly appreciated.

If you have questions regarding this change, please feel free to call one of the Customer Service Representatives at Republic Services, Inc., (800)888-5783.

SOUTH BEND

Due to frigid weather, all trash collection in South Bend will occur two days late throughout the week. Solid Waste crews normally do not collect trash on Friday and Saturday, but they will do so on Friday, January 10 and Saturday, January 11 to keep pickup on track for the week.

SCHEDULE:

Monday, January 6: NO PICK UP

Tuesday, January 7: NO PICK UP

Wednesday, January 8: Normal Monday Pickup

Thursday, January 9: Normal Tuesday Pickup

Friday, January 10: Normal Wednesday Pickup

Saturday, January 11: Normal Thursday Pickup

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY/ELKHART - BORDEN WASTE-AWAY/HIMCO

Due to inclement weather and hazardous road conditions, trash and recycling services for Monday, January 6th and Tuesday, January 7th have been suspended. This includes all subscription customers, Elkhart city residents, and all other municipal customers. Borden will be back on your next regularly scheduled service day and will take extra bags of trash and/or recycling free of charge.

Elkhart city residents who would have been serviced on either Monday, January 6th or Tuesday, January 7th will have extra trash bags taken on Monday, January 13th and Tuesday, January 14th.

St. Joe county residents who were not serviced on Monday, January 6th and Tuesday, January 7th will have extra recycling taken on their next regularly scheduled recycling day. Borden asks that you clearly mark the bags as being excess recycling so they are not confused with bags of trash.

All Himco Front Load services will be completed this week between Wednesday, January 8th and Saturday, January 11th. Himco Roll-Off service will resume Wednesday, January 8th.

Borden Waste-Away Service, Inc. and Himco Waste-Away Service, Inc., affiliates of the Waste-Away Group, would like to extend their appreciation for customers' patience and understanding. "This kind of thing hasn't happened here in decades...", relates a spokesman for the Waste-Away Group, "...and we hope it waits decades to happen again."

For additional service information, please visit their website at www.wasteawaygroup.com or call Customer Support: Borden (800) 386-3313 ext. 570 or Himco (800) 634-4626 ext 570.
