US-20 Bypass reopens following multiple crashes

Westbound lanes of the US-20 Bypass have reopened after a closure that lasted for a little over an hour.  Westbound lanes between SR-19 and Elm Road were closed between 10:15am and 11:20am on Thursday.

The Elkhart County Sheriff's Department says there were at least five crashes involving passenger cars, a semi, even a garbage truck. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in any of the five accidents.

They were not the only accidents on the Bypass Thursday morning. A short time later, South Bend Police reported they were working a rollover accident on the Bypass north of US-20.

Police are asking drivers to slow down and be aware of potentially slick conditions, especially near overpasses and open stretches of the road.
