Girl Scout cookies return to Michiana

With a new year comes resolutions, and for many that means trying to eat healthy and lose weight.  But a delicious enemy is also arriving at our doorsteps: Girl Scout Cookies.

Cookies went on sale Friday, and will continue to be available until March 11.  This year, the organizations has unveiled a new cookie, Cranberry Citrus Crisps to go along with their perennial favorites.

"Through cookie program activities, girls learn how to plan, build teams, speak up, make decisions, solve problems and manage resources. These skills help girls learn to be leaders - ultimately in their own lives and in our communities," said the Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana in a written release.

The Girl Scouts are also moving into the app age this year.  They have a new Cookie Finder app available for iOS and Android to help locate sales near you.

You can learn more about the cookie sale on the Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana website.
