Warmer temps bring people out in Michiana

Posted:

It was pretty warm out Sunday, considering the temps we dealt with just a few days ago.

That means people were out and about in Michiana.

The River Walk in Mishawaka was a popular spot to be Sunday afternoon.

People were out jogging, taking in the sights, and were able to bring their pets out as well!

"We haven't been out in quite awhile and of course we wanted to take our dog for a walk and so we thought about a nice place to come that wasn't full of snow," says Shari Lyons, who enjoyed the River Walk.

One couple was especially happy for the warmer weather as they were there to take engagement photos.

Zach Canniff says he's grateful he and his fiancee were able to get out for their pictures.

"It was funny, we actually walked out of the house today and literally said 'hey it feels like summer!' You know, from last week being negative thirty. We were snowed in for about three days," says Canniff.

It wasn't just residents who enjoyed the weather.

Local businesses like Nick's Golf Center saw customers coming to take some swings at the driving range.

Head Teaching Professional, Tim Holt says a day like this is a bonus for a market like his.

"From a business standpoint this is the time of year that companies are introducing new product, so it's nice to have days like this where people can come out and test what's going to be new for 2014 so it really helps," says Holt.

Holt says many of the people there were high school students who were prepping for high school golf season, which starts in the spring.

Nick's Golf Center is open all year round and the driving range has heaters available for those who may want to get out there, even if the weather isn't as nice as it was Sunday.
