Weight-loss challenge kicking-off in Kosciusko County

Posted:

The start of a new year means the start of some new resolutions.  For many people it comes down to one thing: losing weight.  People in Kosciusko County are doing something about it. They're kicking-off a weight-loss challenge called Kosciusko Fit.

"The fitness challenge was developed as a way to help promote weight-loss in Kosciusko County, to help get everybody healthier and it has a monetary incentive," says Elaine Wakefield an organizer.

If losing weight wasn't motivation enough they are also awarding cold hard cash to the winners. Up to $250 for an individual or $1,000 for a team.  Courtney Dickson is just one of over a hundred people who have signed up for the challenge.

"I've had a lot of back issues and I was told to not exercise for 6 months so January was the cut-off for that so I'm getting started back up hoping to build up my back muscles," says Dickson.

Half of the prize money will be awarded in May, the other half in August.  Organizers want people to lose the weight and keep it off.

If you'd like to participate in the challenge you need to act fast.  The deadline is end of day Thursday and it does cost $25.

You can sign up here.
